General course info
To make sure that you feel completely prepared before attending one of our cookery courses here is some useful information so that you know what to expect from the day.
If using a sat nav, please use the postcode SK17 8NU which will take you to the George Hotel (just across the road from the school of food), as they do not recognise our postcode. Alternatively click here for directions.
The School of Food doesn’t have a car park, however there is sufficient on street parking just outside- either on the main street opposite the George Hotel or on St Johns Road which runs up the hill between The George and the School of Food. All on street parking is free of charge.
Unless otherwise stated our course timings are as follows:
Full day courses start at 10am and finish at 4pm.
Half day morning courses start at 10am and finish at 1.30pm.
Half day afternoon courses start at 1pm and finish at 4.30pm.
Evening courses start at 6.30pm and finish at 8.30pm.
We ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to the course start time so that you can relax with a cup of tea or fresh coffee and meet your fellow course attendees.
What to wear
Although we have plenty of breaks for refreshments please be aware that you will be on your feet for most of the session, so comfortable shoes are a must. But please avoid sandals or open toed shoes for safety reasons. It can also get quite warm in the kitchen so wearing layers is advisable. You will be provided with a Tideswell School of Food apron to wear during the course.
Please let us know at the time of booking your course whether you have any allergies or food preferences so that we can cater for your requirements.
If you have an extreme allergic reaction to certain foods, unfortunately we will be unable to accept you on our courses. Although our kitchens are cleaned daily we cannot guarantee nuts, shellfish or other potential allergens will not be present around the kitchen.
What to bring
You don’t really need to bring anything with you on the day. You will be provided with tea/coffee and water throughout the session and lunch on our full day courses. You will also receive a full recipe pack for all of the dishes that you will be cooking throughout the session along with note paper and a pen to jot down any useful tips and tricks from the chef. We will also provide you with take away containers should you need to take any food away with you at the end of the session.
