Brewing Courses
Our custom made demonstration unit is designed so that small groups can assemble and use it, under the watchful eye of our expert brewmaster.
Fancy a pint? Fancy brewing it? The Tideswell School of Food includes a small brewery, which we call the "Nano-Brewery" because it's smaller than a Microbrewery but bigger than a home brew kit. The Nano-Brewery is a custom made demonstration brewery in a small room that brews up to a Firkin at a time (that's 9 gallons) so you can take part in the process of turning grain, hops, water and yeast into something altogether more palatable.
The kit is designed so that small groups (up to 4 people) can assemble and use it, under the watchful eye of our expert brewmaster, and learn something about the ingredients, process, and equipment involved in the ancient art of brewing. In a morning or afternoon you'll mill, mash, and sparge, learn the difference between liquor and wort, and in the end brew a batch (9 or 4.5galls) of bitter ready for fermentation, which takes about a week. We'll then bottle it for you and send it on or arrange for your collection. It's an ideal way to supply a party or an event, and to learn a little about beer in the process. After a brewing session we can arrange a trip to one of the Micro-Breweries in the area and provide you with a list of recommended real ale pubs in the local area. (There's 4 in the village for a start!)
To enquire about or register your interest in a course at the Nano-Brewery please call us on 01298 871262 or email us.
Terms and Conditions
All participants of a course at the Nano-Brewery need to be 18 or over.
Quantities quoted are approximate.
Although we brew under controlled conditions and aim to help you brew a quality pint, due to the nature of the course we cannot guarantee the quality of the finished beer, and no refunds can be given for spoilt batches.
We can rack off the beer into 36pint polypin containers if you prefer, but shelf life is reduced to a few days.
